WFAS
A WFAS (World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies) é uma organização fundada em novembro de 1987 e que visa promover o entendimento e cooperação mútua sobre Acupuntura e Moxabustão entre grupos espalhados por todos os cantos do mundo e desenvolver a ciência da Acupuntura-Moxabustão, contribuindo para a saúde da raça humana.

Possui atualmente 73 organizações de Acupuntura de 40 países, além de um sem-número de membros associados. A WFAS publica qudrimestralmente o World Journal of Acupuncture Moxibustion, em inglês, desde 1991. Estabeleceu relações oficiais com a OMS (Organização Mundial de Saúde) em 1998, e desde então vem trocando informações e realizando trabalhos em conjunto em prol do aperfeiçoamento e difusão das técnicas de Acupuntura-Moxabustão.

THE WORKING PLAN OF WFAS FOR 2001 - 2004

(approved by the First Session of the Fifth Executive Committee)

The economic globalization and high development of science and technology in 21st century provides a new favorable opportunity for the development of acupuncture. The Fifth Executive Committee of WFAS should adapt itself to the trend of development, strengthen cooperation based on conducting academic exchange extensively, and further enhance academic level of acupuncture science globally.

The focal points of WFAS's work from 2001- 2004 shall be to promote academic exchange, to further unity ard cooperation, to strengthen organizational management and to push forward the process of legislation,

The specific plan is as follows:

1. Organization

a) to examine the qualifications of applicants and admit more new members into WFAS, especially carrying out admission work in those countries without WFAS member societies;

b) to set up charitable treatment working commitee Each member society may volunteer to organize charitable treatment group to provide treatment service for the poverty-stricken area and the poor.

c) to draw up the detailed rules for electoral procedures of WFAS which accords with international practice and to work out the detailed rules for bidding for the symposiums and conference.

d) To make preparatory works for the Six General Assembly of WFAS.

2. Education

a) to keep on investigating the current situation of acupuncture education in various countries, including teaching method, organizational structure teaching materials, class hours and clinical practice.

b) to make an attempt on drawing up international standards for acupuncture teaching and acupuncture proficiency test, and to conduct international acupuncture proficiency test step by step.

3. Legislation

a) to keep on investigating and collecting information on acupuncture legislation in various countries.

b) to propose measures to promote acupuncture legislative work.

C) to assist and cooperate with member societies to strive for the legal status of acupuncture in their respective countries.

4. Academic Activities

a) to hold an international acupuncture symposium in Singapore, September or October 2001.

b) to have an international acupuncture symposium in Rome, Italy, September or October 2002.

c) to conduct an international acupuncture symposium in Oslo, Norway, September or October 2003.

d) to convene the Six General Assembly of WFAS and Sixth World Conference on Acupuncture in Gold Coast, Australia, October or November 2004.

5. Compilation and Publication

a) to compile and publish "WFAS Communication", and to improve he quality of publication and increase annual issues.

b) to edit and publish "World Journal of Acupuncture-Moxibustion" with 4 issues each year.

6. Strengthening the co-operation with WHO

a) to carry out academic and information exchange with WHO, and jointly formulate and implement working guidelines, such as guidelines on standard of acupuncture teaching and guidelines on safety of clinical acupuncture.

b) to co-sponsor international acupuncture symposiums and world conference on acupuncture with WHO.

c) to fulfil obligation undertaken by non-government organization with official relation with WHO.
